宗传明

另外，他还提出了一些新概念，新猜想和新问题。有些已成为欧美专著中的标准概念和问题。例如blockingnumber,freeplane以及关于它们的猜想等。基于他的工作，宗传明教授被《数学评论》称为是“该领域的一支引导力量和创造力量”，“对堆积覆盖理论做出了巨大贡献”。

文献发表
宗传明在Springer-Verlag和CambridgeUniversityPress出版专著三部，在欧美发表论文30余篇，其中包括发表在Bull.Amer.Math.Soc.上的两篇综述文章。Bull.Amer.Math.Soc.是最著名的数学杂志之一，每年约稿发表十余篇这类评述学科进展的文章。这是该杂志历史上首次由国内作者发表的综述文章。CambridgeTractsinMathematics是最著名的数学丛书之一，已有一百多年的历史，出版了185部。宗传明在该丛书出版的专著TheCube:AWindowtoConvexandDiscreteGeometry是该丛书历史上第一部由国内作者出版的著作。
主要成就
宗传明教授曾荣获中国科学院十大杰出青年称号(1998),茅以升青年科技奖(1999),国家杰出青年基金(2002),中国青年科技奖(2004),教育部自然科学一等奖(2005),入选国家新世纪百千万人才(2006),中国数学会陈省身数学奖(2007),获vonPrechtl奖章(2008，奥地利),国家自然科学二等奖(2009)，入选国家万人计划--领军人才（2013）。
宗传明曾应邀在中国数学会2011年会作大会报告，在世界密码协会2012亚洲会议(Asiacrypt2012)作一小时大会报告,是世界密码协会亚洲会议历史上第一位来自中国大陆的大会报告人（该系列会议自1990年开始，此前的华裔大会报告人有姚期智等）。
